President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have been held in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist law enforcement in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the administration to halt asylum applications and halt issuing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to speak to his relatives.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with honor, per the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
