Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future following another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

The manager lamented recurring failings from his squad in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a period like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
