The English golfer Secures Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in Thrilling Play-Off Showdown Against Tommy Fleetwood
Aaron Rai demonstrated remarkable composure to claim the prestigious Abu Dhabi title on the final day, defeating his compatriot in a dramatic playoff after a rollercoaster final round of competition.
Rai sank a crucial birdie from just over eight feet to clinch the win, repeating his sole prior Rolex Series success at the 2020 Scottish Open, which was likewise a playoff victory against the same opponent.
Final Round Excitement
Rai started the final round with a single stroke advantage over countryman Tommy Fleetwood and Denmark’s Højgaard. He finished with a total score of 263 after a up-and-down, 67 closing round that included seven birdies and two bogeys.

Højgaard carded six birdie putts of his as well, but his chances of topping the leaderboard were dented by a bogey on the twelfth. England’s Richard Mansell produced an superb final-round seven-under to finish tied for fifth with Australia’s Hillier.
