The Opening Game Pass Games of 2026 Reveal Xbox Isn't Giving Up Yet.

Across the gaming landscape, enthusiasts continue to ring the knell for the Xbox brand. Xbox was recently outsold by a lesser-known competitor. Xbox fan sites began covering on PS5 topics as a new development. The past year represented complete chaos for the tech giant's gaming arm. But if we're going solely off the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it's evident that Xbox remains determined to engage players with compelling titles on its premier subscription.

The Immediate Additions

The two games you can play right now at this moment, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, don't represent the biggest draws. The true anticipation is for the upcoming titles to Game Pass over the next few weeks that's truly noteworthy.

Significant Forthcoming Releases

Starting January 13th, Game Pass will add the often-overlooked Star Wars Outlaws, a sprawling adventure that refreshes conventional open-world tropes with an intergalactic heist adventure. Another big get is Resident Evil Village with its iconic tall vampire, hailed in past assessments as "the perfect cocktail of frights and fights."

Compelling Indie Titles

Yet, the less-hyped additions set to join the catalog are noteworthy here. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, a fantastic but under-the-radar dungeon crawler that's a blast to play, arrives January 7th — and it's worth experiencing regardless of whether you played the first Lost in Random game.

This UK-developed survival title from last year may draw you in in about 15 minutes flat.

Atomfall, the stealth survival game by the makers of Sniper Elite, also warrants your attention. Those with the top-tier subscription also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to get excited about.

A Well-Rounded Collection

Ultimately, these titles aren't industry-shaking releases to Game Pass, and they don't represent massive exclusive blockbusters that are the sole reason for the service in the first place. But Microsoft's additions here are exceptionally strong. The lineup provides a solid mix of past releases that passed you by and relatively recent releases that didn't get the attention they deserved the first time around — transforming them into excellent choices to get a second chance on Game Pass.

You might need to brace yourself to say goodbye to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
